Placed on an existing 17th century clerical building, with dim restorations, the intervention tried to respect the historical value more than the artistic value of the existing building. The colour is the main character for a range of graphical and expressive potentials. Over the chromatic game it is added the transparency of the roof and the poetics of the light.
Implantado en un edificio claustral del siglo XVII con penosas transformaciones, el proyecto tenia que resolver el respeto a la preexistencia, más por su valor histórico que artístico. Concepto y renuncias se expresan en un continuo, porque la renuncia a la ubicación de la sala de exposiciones de vehículos pesados, bajo la cota 0 del patio claustral, provocó el concepto: el color será protagonista por su gama de potencialidades gráficas y expresivas. A este juego cromático se añade la transparencia de los tejidos de cubrimiento para establecer un catálogo de greguerías de la luz, la poética de la luz, la filosofía de la luz.

The new Congress Palace gives the maximum flexibility both during and after the Expo. It is conceived to host different events simultaneously: conventions, lectures, congresses, concerts, plays, shows, performances, and exhibitions. All these and other activities can happen independently and without interference from each other. Each one of the three ‘legs’ provides a complex stage system incorporating backstage and other sub-spaces, which give the freedom to layout a large variety of uses. The new Congress Palace will then be open to a wider audience, as extra events attract extra public. It offers a unique and versatile program combination under one roof, new in Zaragoza.
El Nuevo Palacio de Congresos ofrece la máxima flexibilidad durante y después de la Expo. Se concibe para poder albergar distintos eventos simultáneamente: convenciones, conferencias, congresos, conciertos, actuaciones, exposiciones. Todas estas y otras actividades pueden tener lugar independientemente y sin interferirse unas a otras. Cada una de las tres ‘patas’ posee un complejo sistema de escenario, incorporando espacios y dependencias que dan libertad para distribuir el espacio escénico según las necesidades de cada momento. El nuevo Palacio podrá entonces estar abierto a un público más amplio, ya que podrán producirse mayor número de eventos en él. Ofrece una posibilidad de uso versátil y único bajo el mismo techo, y nuevo en Zaragoza.
